L-3’s Aviation Products Group (Static F186) is to supply a wide range of avionics for the Sky Aircraft Skylander SK-105, the multi-purpose twin-turboprop transport currently taking shape for a projected first flight in the middle of next year. L-3 is supplying systems via the SK-105’s core avionics integrator, Cobham Avionics.
Flight-data acquisition unit
Under a special FAR, Dassault Aviation received a two-year exemption from meeting upgraded flight-data-recorder rules applicable to Falcon 900s and 900EXs operated under Part 135. Dassault claims that it would be a “significant expense” to have to develop and retrofit a new flight-data acquisition unit the company said would be required to enable the resolution of all required FDR parameters.
Crane Aerospace & Electronics, whose recent successes include selection to provide a new-generation doors and slides control system for the Airbus A330/340 and the on-board tire and brake monitoring system for the Boeing 777, is developing a flight data simulation and maintenance trend-monitoring program to provide proactive product support to airlines.
