CAE Flight Training (India) and InterGlobe Enterprises of India are forming a joint-venture training center to provide pilot and maintenance training in India. Located in the National Capital Region, Delhi, India, it is slated to begin operations by the end of next year. It is the fifth CAE facility in the country. CAE currently trains more than 1,500 crewmembers every year at its training center in Bengaluru.

Six Aeroflot flight instructors have qualified in the Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) after undergoing 40 days of training at the manufacturer’s Zhukovsky base near Moscow. These pilots will be flying the Russian carrier’s first SSJ100 to enter revenue service, with initial passenger flights expected later this summer.
Russia-based operator UTair last week received a certificate of conformity to Eurocopter training standards, thus becoming the first Eurocopter training center in which the manufacturer is not a shareholder. UTair is now approved for type-rating training of pilots and mechanics on AS350 and AS355 Squirrel light helicopters under Eurocopter programs.
After a year best described as challenging, flight-training provider FlightSafety International has seen an uptick in business since January and is adding another training site to its worldwide network, as well as several new training platforms at some of its locations. “We are seeing a little bit of life here in the first quarter,” said Eric Hinson, the company’s executive vice president.
Gulfstream Aerospace has opened an in-flight support center as part of its customer support call center. The call center, which is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, handles an average of 60,000 calls per month.
