The UK’s Flybe has taken delivery of its 50th Bombardier Q400 airliner, equipped with the 1,000th installation of Ultra Electronics’ active noise control (ANC) system, the Canadian airframe maker announced today.

Bombardier Aerospace announced today that Pinnacle Airlines subsidiary Colgan Air has signed a firm order to acquire 15 more Q400 NextGen turboprops worth some $432 million. The transaction involves the conversion to a firm order of a conditional order for 10 airplanes and the exercise of options Pinnacle placed on five in 2007.

Embraer and Flybe Aviation Services have signed a five-year contract that names the UK regional aircraft maintenance company an authorized service center for the ERJ 145 and E-Jet series. Flybe serves as an Embraer parts pool program customer, and now joins the company’s aviation services network.

Air France subsidiary Régional last month took delivery and placed into service the first of nine 76-seat Embraer E170s on firm order. Also flying six Embraer E190s, 28 ERJ 145s, nine ERJ 135s and five Brasilia turboprops, the French airline stands as Europe’s largest Embraer operator. It also flies nine Fokker 100s and five Fokker 70s and serves 20 domestic and 26 intra-European destinations.

After several years of 25-percent compound growth, UK regional British European Airlines is adopting a more measured approach to provide less unpredictable development after posting losses last year. Moves in late June to meet shareholders’ revised aims included the voluntary departure of chief executive Barry Perrott and the decision to release the Canadair RJ fleet.

Embraer has suffered a major setback following the decision of 170/190 launch customer Swiss to slash its firm orders and options for the Brazilian manufacturer’s new series of aircraft. In late March the Basel, Switzerland-based carrier announced it was reducing its original firm order of thirty 70-seat Embraer 170s and thirty 108-seat 195s to 15 of each model and deferring delivery for a year.
