After years of wrangling, SheltAir Aviation Services has opened its new FBO at Francis S. Gabreski Airport (FOK) in Westhampton Beach, N.Y. Part of the Holland Sheltair Aviation Group, which operates 13 facilities in New York, Florida and Georgia, the company has been at Gabreski since it acquired the FBO from the Long Island Jet Center in 2006.

All three Long Island (N.Y.) Jet Centers (LIJC) will soon get major facelifts. The three separate projects are expected to cost about $50 million, collectively, with work starting early next year and taking up to three years to finish. Long Island Jet Centers include facilities at Francis Gabreski Airport (FOK) in Westhampton Beach; MacArthur Airport (ISP) in Islip; and Republic Airport in Farmingdale.
“We’re one of the best-kept secrets in the Southampton area,” said New York Jet corporate services manager Lindsay Durand. Founded as Mid Island Air Service in 1946 by World War II veteran Louis Mancuso, New York Jet began servicing corporate aircraft in 1987 at Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP) in Islip, N.Y. “Commitment to excellence is the backbone of New York Jet’s success,” said Durand.
