This month will mark the end of Kawasaki Aeronautica do Brasil’s wing production in Gaviao Peixoto, Brazil, as the company transfers work packages for the metallic airfoil sections for the 190 and 195 airliners to Embraer as outlined in a letter of agreement signed by the parties in late May.
Early last month Embraer announced it cut the first metal for its Phenom 100 very light jet. The part–a fuselage component that connects to the engine pylon–was milled from a block of aluminum at the company’s main plant in São José dos Campos, Brazil.
Two years ago Embraer had one product for the business aviation market, with the Legacy, an executive/VIP or corporate shuttle version of its ERJ 135 regional jet. But that is ancient history, said Embraer executive v-p of executive jets Luis Carlos Affonso.
