Gulfstream Aerospace promoted Greg Collett to v-p of initial phase operations and Austin Shontz to v-p of final phase operations. Collett oversees initial phase manufacturing of large-cabin Gulfstreams and is responsible for advanced programs, advanced manufacturing technology and operations at the Mexicali facility.

Midcoast Aviation is absorbing the operations of sister company Savannah Air Center to “consolidate our talents into a single center of excellence,” according to Midcoast president Donald Petersen.
The FAA has approved plans by Georgia’s Gwinnett County to privatize Gwinnett County-Briscoe Field in Lawrenceville, Ga. The tower-controlled airport has a 6,000-foot runway and is located 31 nm northeast of Atlanta’s Hartsfield Jackson International Airport. Two FBOs serve the airport, Aircraft Specialists Jet Center and Landmark Aviation.
Midcoast Aviation announced last week it will take over the operations of sister company Savannah Air Center. Both facilities, along with Jet Aviation and Gulfstream Aerospace, are part of General Dynamics’ aerospace stable. Midcoast and Savannah Air Center perform major maintenance, repair and overhaul work, as well as cabin completion and refurbishment.
Midcoast Aviation of East Cahokia, Ill., announced last week it will absorb the operations of sister company Savannah Air Center of Savannah, Ga., and expects the transition to be complete by year-end. Both Midcoast and Savannah Air Center provide aircraft interior completion and refurbishment and maintenance and overhaul.
Charter/management firm FlightWorks has opened a new sales office at Dekalb-Peachtree Airport in Atlanta, at the Signature Flight Support FBO. The new office joins recent expansions in Boise, Idaho, and Salt Lake City. FlightWorks, headquartered in Kennesaw, Ga., now has nearly 50 aircraft in its fleet.
Savannah Air Center will change its name to Midcoast Aviation effective January 1. The Savannah, Ga.-based company was acquired by Jet Aviation in 2008, two years after Jet Aviation acquired Midcoast Aviation in St. Louis, as part of the company’s effort to strengthen its completions, modification and maintenance services in North America.
Effective January 1 Savannah Air Center will be named Midcoast Aviation. In the U.S., Midcoast Aviation will now operate two completions and maintenance centers (St. Louis and Savannah). In an effort to strengthen its completions, modification and maintenance services in North America, Jet Aviation acquired Midcoast Aviation in 2006 and, in 2008, Savannah Air Center.
Savannah Air Center (Booth No. 3997) has renovated a 2,400-sq-ft delivery center for newly completed aircraft. The new two-story facility offers clients controlled ramp access during the delivery phase of their aircraft. Quality assurance and certification personnel are located nearby to expedite the turnover of paperwork and required documents.
Gulfstream Aerospace recently received an expansion of its Organization Designation Authorization (ODA) to include final-phase manufacturing and service-center work at its headquarters in Savannah as well as its facilities in Appleton, Wis.; Brunswick, Ga.; Dallas; and Long Beach, Calif.
