The third quarter of next year will see the opening ceremony of a new Bombardier factory-owned service center at Love Field in Dallas. The nearly 100,000-sq-ft facility will increase service space by 60 percent and will accommodate Learjets, Challengers and Globals.

Dallas Airmotive (DAI) last month signed two contracts with Pacific Turbines Brisbane (PTB) of Brisbane, Australia. The contracts appoint PTB as sales representative for Dallas Airmotive in Australia and the surrounding region, and as a Dallas Airmotive authorized service center.

McKinney Aerospace has been designated an authorized GE service center for engine work. Located on Collin County Regional Airport in McKinney, Texas, the company now has the capacity to perform in-house inspections on GE’s CF34, which powers the Challenger 601 and 604.

Arnoni Aviation of Houston has expanded its landing gear and accessory shops by moving them to a 25,000-sq-ft facility adjacent to the George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston. The new location includes more than 10,000 sq ft of environmentally controlled shop space. Planned expansion in Arnoni’s growing component overhaul services prompted the move.

Texas-based Sky Helicopters has opened new buildings at its Garland/DFW Heliport in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Located a few miles from downtown Dallas, the facility now includes a public terminal and office and a new hangar for up to 40 helicopters. Instructional facilities include a Flyit helicopter simulator, which Sky uses for ab initio, commercial, instrument rating and recurrent training.

Cutter Aviation recently broke ground for a new FBO to replace the company’s original facility at El Paso International Airport, Texas. The new 13,000-sq-ft terminal building and 20,000-sq-ft hangar are being built next to the control tower and are expected to open this winter. The current airport-owned facility is slated to be demolished.

Contrary to earlier reports that aircraft flying into the Dallas area from international departure points could clear U.S. Customs only through Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, customs can be cleared at Addison Airport, Dallas Love Field and any other general aviation airport in the area. Nevertheless, operators are advised to verify customs clearance procedures before departure.

Ship it AOG, a business aircraft parts distributor, has relocated to a larger facility at Dallas Addison Airport. A new 7,000-sq-ft space is nearly five times the size of the previous headquarters.

Bombardier plans to break ground this month for a 100,000-sq-foot addition to its service center at Love Field in Dallas to accommodate the OEM’s Challenger and Global business jet lines. The new facilities are scheduled to open next fall.
