Dallas Airmotive senior manager of marketing Bill Barber, 61, retired last month after a decade with the engine maintenance company. Barber, who joined Dallas Airmotive in 1992, developed major marketing programs for the company, and managed Web site development and trade-show appearances.

In a project that adds more than 45,000 sq ft to its Love Field facility, General Dynamics Aviation Services is expanding its Dallas Service Center by leasing a hangar from Signature Flight Support. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Air Culinaire, the Arlington, Va.-based business aviation caterer, announced the January 1 opening of a facility at Dallas Love Field. Air Culinaire COO Cliff Smith said the company will take over the food service operation currently handled by Signature Flight Support and will be providing catering throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

To more closely reflect its primary customer base of business aviation, the city of Dallas is changing the name of Redbird Airport to Dallas Executive Airport, effective May 1. Business aircraft are now served by two FBOs–Dallas Air Services and Jet Center. A third FBO, to be operated by Cutter Aviation, is scheduled to open next month.

Construction of Wing Aviation, which started last September at Montgomery County Airport in Conroe, Texas, is now slated to finish in the fall instead of this month, as originally scheduled. The new facility will include a 40,000-sq-ft maintenance hangar and a 14,000-sq-ft paint hangar. Wing’s new 12,000-sq-ft terminal building will house crew and passenger lounges, a conference room, flight-planning room, showers, gym and other amenities.

Marshall Aerospace, now finishing its sixth Global Express completion for Bombardier,
is having to find alternative work for its Cambridge, UK facility as sales slow for the ultra-long-range business jet. The company is contracted to complete six more green Globals, but it is now unclear when it will get this work.

Central Texas, near the capital city of Austin, may yet get the general aviation airport it has so desperately needed for the past several years. When Austin (Texas) Mueller Airport gave way to the new Austin Bergstrom International Airport in April 1999, general aviation was not granted nearly the same footprint it had enjoyed at the old, now-closed field.
