When it comes to defense coverage, AIN naturally focuses on airborne systems and platforms, including some very high-tech stuff, of course. But my visit to the Defence Geospatial Intelligence Conference and Exhibitionin London last month was a reminder that what happens on the ground is equally, if not more, important.

The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) officially closed its public comment period regarding the proposal to remove from public sale and distribution its Flight Information Publications (FLIP), Digital Aeronautical Flight Information File (DAFIF) and related aeronautical safety-of-navigation digital and hardcopy publications.

The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) will go forward with a modified version of its previously announced proposal to remove its flight information publications (FLIP) and digital aeronautical flight information file (DAFIF) from public access.

The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) in October will remove its non-U.S. flight information publications and digital aeronautical flight information file from public access. The plan, however, will not affect charts for the U.S., Caribbean and South America or Pacific, Australia and Antarctica in areas considered part of the U.S. Flight Information Region, for which NGA will distribute charts until October 2007.
