AvConnect has introduced a new service that downloads the data–more than 70 data points per second–stored by Garmin G1000 avionics systems. The data can be viewed by the aircraft owner or operator or shared with mechanics and maintenance providers or aircraft and component manufacturers. AvConnect uses the gathered data to populate its primary products, including pilot logbooks, aircraft maintenance tracking systems and aircraft tax records.
Avidyne’s TAS600 traffic advisory system received validation from Brazil’s Agência Nacional De Aviação Civil (ANAC), allowing the system to be installed in Brazil-registered aircraft under Avidyne’s approved model list (AML) STC. The AML covers more than 400 aircraft, including some Brazil-certified Indústria Aeronáutica NeivaEmbraer models and licensed Piper models built in Brazil.
Kestrel Aircraft announced yesterday at EAA AirVenture that it has formed an Air Works division to install the Avidyne R9 avionics system and other upgrades in Piper Meridians and Cirrus SR22s. Kestrel president Alan Klapmeier said that the company is targeting a price in the region of $130,000 for installation of a new Meridian cockpit with the system and initially has set a “conservative” goal of 15 installations per year.
Rockwell Collins announced Sunday at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh that its engineers have developed a touchscreen interface for the Pro Line Fusion avionics suite.
Garmin’s G500H helicopter glass cockpit is now approved for installation in Canadian-registered Eurocopter AS350B2/B3s and EC130B4s. The all-glass G500H features synthetic vision technology (SVT), moving map, chart data, helicopter-specific database including more than 7,000 airports and nearly 30,000 obstacles, optional worldwide weather and the ability to display FLIR (infrared) and other video sources.

Six Aeroflot flight instructors have qualified in the Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) after undergoing 40 days of training at the manufacturer’s Zhukovsky base near Moscow.
