Israel Aircraft Industries Westwind 1124A, Norfolk Island, Australia, Nov. 18, 2009–While on an aeromedical flight from Apia, Samoa, to Melbourne, Australia, the crew of the Australian-registered twinjet attempted a scheduled fuel stop at Norfolk Island Airport, where weather conditions had deteriorated considerably during the course of the flight.

A new 62,000-sq-ft facility has been dedicated on Huntsville International Airport, Ala., by WestWind Technologies to provide engineering, manufacturing, electronics integration and structural modifications.

The Beechcraft HS 125-700/800 series aircraft has been added to Arcadia Aviation’s FAA Part 145 repair station license. Earlier this year the company added the Israeli Aircraft Industries Westwind 1124 and 1124A series when Mike Harvey, a former IAI field service representative who currently sits on the manufacturer’s advisory panel, joined Arcadia’s maintenance team as director of Westwind Technical Services.

WestWind Technologies has broken ground on the Huntsville Aircraft Modification and Integration Center at the Huntsville International Airport. The center will also offer full maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities for military, commercial and business aircraft.

ISRAEL AIRCRAFT INDUSTRIES 1124A, TAOS, N.M., NOV. 8, 2002–The only occupants, both airline transport-rated pilots, of the Westwind were killed when the aircraft crashed on approach to Taos Municipal Airport (SKX). The accident occurred at approximately 2:57 p.m. after the Westwind passed the initial approach fix for the VOR/DME-B approach.

IAI 1124 Westwind, Mosstown, Exuma, Bahamas, May 24, 2006–Westwind N475AT declared an emergency after having an electrical problem and was diverted to Mosstown. When the airplane landed and the two crew-members and six passengers left the airplane, one had minor injuries. The Airtrek Westwind had left San Juan, Puerto Rico, for Punta Gorda, Fla., on an IFR flight plan. The source of the electrical problem was not reported.

Israel Aircraft Industries 1124 Westwind, Georgetown, Bahamas, May 24, 2006– The Westwind ran off the side of the runway when making an emergency landing at Exuma International Airport. The EMS flight was on an IFR flight plan from San Juan, Puerto Rico, to Norfolk, Va., in night visual conditions.
