Texarkana, Texas-based Truman Arnold Companies has purchased controlling interest in Keystone Aviation of Utah. As a result of the deal, the company’s Tac Air chain gained the lone FBOs at Salt Lake City International (SLC) and Provo Municipal (PVU) Airports, bringing its total to 14 locations nationwide. Keystone’s other service subsidiaries, such as aircraft charter and management, sales and maintenance, will now operate under the new Keystone Aviation brand led by industry veteran Bill Haberstock.

Assuming the lease is signed, Million Air will start FBO operations right away while ­building a new facility.

Two FBOs at Reno-Tahoe International Airport are not going to renew their upcoming leases, and the airport has released a request for proposals (RFP) for a new FBO to replace them. “Reno-Tahoe is the 62nd busiest commercial airport in the country and has a large corporate and general aviation customer base,” the airport explained.

In an effort to attract aviation industry to the region, Provo, Utah, has agreed to spend $115,000 in site preparation costs at its municipal airport to help Duncan Aviation develop the company’s third full-service business jet facility, which it initially planned to open there next year. The economy has prompted Duncan to defer groundbreaking indefinitely and opt instead to lease hangar space from FBO Million Air.

By August next year, Duncan Aviation will have a new maintenance facility in Provo, Utah, in a 15,000-sq-ft hangar leased from Million Air Provo.

On March 30 next year Dassault Falcon will open its newest factory-owned service center at Nevada’s Reno-Tahoe International Airport. The service center will be housed in a 38,000-sq-ft former American Airlines hangar. Dassault will hire and train 18 mechanics for the opening, and that number is expected to grow to 40 in five years.

The service center will be housed in a 38,000-sq-ft former American Airlines hangar, which will be remodeled with administrative and customer office space and amenities and freshly painted hangar floor and walls.

Duncan Aviation (Booth No. 5100) announced yesterday plans to build its third full-service maintenance facility. The center will be located in Provo, Utah, and is scheduled to open by August 2010, pending final approval for state incentives from the Utah governor’s Office of Economic Development.
