The FAA issued the final in a series of 50 Technical Standard Orders (TSO) for the Rockwell Collins Pro Line Fusion avionics system last week. The next step for Fusion is the STC for installation in Rockwell Collins’s Challenger 601 test airplane followed by certification on a Bombardier Global Express XRS.

NetJets, the Berkshire Hathaway-owned fractional-share operator, completed a purchase agreement early last month for up to 120 new Bombardier Globals, a deal worth $6.7 billion if all aircraft options are taken. Notably, this is NetJets’ first order for Bombardier business jets; previous large-cabin acquisitions by the fractional provider have been for Gulfstreams and Falcons.

As engineers design more structural components using composite materials, the resin transfer molding (RTM) process is seeing increased use in business jets. Bombardier’s Belfast facility is employing RTM to build Learjet 85 wings, and Gulfstream vendor North Coast Composites of Cleveland, Ohio, is using RTM to make G250 rudders.

Emirates-CAE Flight Training (ECFT, Stand C615) announced yesterday that it signed a contract with Athens-based Gainjet Aviation to provide Gulfstream G450 and G550 and Bombardier Global Express pilot training at the training provider's Dubai facility.

International Communications Group (ICG) and Rockwell Collins have demonstrated the compatibility of ICG’s NxtLink ICS-220A communication systems with Rockwell Collins Pro Line Fusion avionics in the Gulfstream G250, the companies said. The tests demonstrated the use of controller pilot datalink communications (CPDLC) and automatic dependent surveillance-contract (ADS-C) functions in the G250’s Pro Line Fusion avionics.

International Communica­tions Group (ICG, Booth No. 4649) and Rockwell Collins (Booth No. 7557) have demonstrated the compatibility of ICG’s NxtLink ICS-220A ­communication systems with Rockwell’s Pro Line Fusion avionics. Pro Line Fusion is the basis for the PlaneView250 flight deck on the Gulfstream G250 and is to be featured on the Bombardier Global Express and XRS.
