Havasu Air Center near Arizona’s Lake Havasu has joined the Avfuel dealer network. The FBO is owned by brothers Dante and Darren Marinelli and features a 5,500-sq-ft terminal building, 100,000-sq-ft hangar and a new weather awning. The terminal building offers pilot snooze rooms and a private lounge plus a movie theater, complimentary coffee, ice and refreshments and concierge service.

This year, Banyan Air Services is celebrating 30 years of service at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport in South Florida. Founded by Don Campion in 1979, Banyan started in a 4,000-sq-ft hangar as a small piston-aircraft maintenance shop for local charter operators.

BaySys International won’t say if it’s lobbying to be the first with an interiors contract for an executive version of the Airbus A380, but the Wallops Island,

AMAC Aerospace inaugurated the main hangar of its new business aviation completions and maintenance operation at Switzerland’s EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg on February 6. The company is now building a second hangar as part of a ramp-up process that could see it more than double total employment from the current figure of 140 to 300 people.

The National Air Transportation Association (NATA) says requiring foam fire suppression systems to be installed in Group II hangars is financially “impractical and not justifiable.” Group II hangars cover more than 12,000 sq ft and their main doors are up to 28 feet high.

The first private aircraft hangar certified to the platinum level by the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building rating system was unveiled last month at Bob Hope Airport in Burbank, Calif. The hangar belongs to Avjet, a charter/management firm that also specializes in sales and acquisitions.

AMAC Aerospace, launched in July 2007, is ready for business in the first of two new hangars at EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg, Switzerland.

According to CEO Heinz Köhli, the start-up maintenance, completion and refurbishment center officially opened its doors on November 11 but had already begun work on its first project, an Airbus A320 executive interior for a Middle East client.
