Truman Arnold Companies announced the addition of Knoxville to its TAC Air FBO network. The Texarkana, Texas-based chain now has 11 FBOs across the U.S. Located on the McGhee Tyson Airfield for more than three decades, the new facility has three large hangars, three rows of T hangars, and plane ports.
Hangar
Tucked into the southwest corner of the Washington ADIZ lies Manassas Regional Airport (HEF), a bustling, rapidly growing general aviation facility with parallel runways and an FAA-operated control tower, and home to three full-service FBOs, four Part 135 charter operators and numerous other aviation-related companies.
Rifton Aviation, the upstate New York FBO formerly owned and operated by the Bruderhof religious community, has been sold. Located at Stewart International Airport (SWF) in Newburgh, N.Y., the ExxonMobil Avitat facility now operates under the name Supermarine, a sister operation to the FBO of the same name in Santa Monica, Calif.
The recently merged business-aviation entity now known as Garrett/Piedmont Hawthorne/Associated officially opened its new 18,000-sq-ft, $1.2 million hangar at Virginia’s Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport (CHO) last month. The new hangar was completed on time and under budget, according to the company, adding capability to the services Piedmont Hawthorne provides at CHO.
FBO AvCenter at Burlington (Vt.) International Airport more than doubled the available hangar space on a portion of its leasehold earlier this year when it opened its new “South Hangar” complex. The construction project consists of a 17,000-sq-ft heated hangar and a dozen new T hangars. The large hangar replaces an older 7,000-sq-ft hangar that was on the same site.
At press time, there was still one hangar left unspoken for at the Paradise Aviation Jet Hangar construction project at Las Vegas McCarran International Airport (LAS). The Molasky Group has built seven private aircraft hangars on 10 acres adjacent to the airport at Mandalay Bay Road. The land is the last parcel remaining for private hangars at McCarran, the sixth busiest airport in the world.
Duncan Aviation recently broke ground on a 325,000-sq-ft expansion of its 200,000-sq-ft Battle Creek facility. The project is scheduled to be completed in March 2007.
Landmark Aviation celebrated the opening of a new hangar addition to its Roanoke, Va. FBO on September 20. The $1.5 million hangar encloses 18,000 sq ft and will be used for aircraft storage. The FBO now has a total of 125,000 sq ft of storage space, according to Karen Roberts, FBO general manager. It also houses a Landmark aircraft sales and charter operation.
The Hangar, an aircraft maintenance and repair facility located on the Panola County Airport in Batesville, Miss., has recently been approved by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to perform component repair and overhaul for non-U.S.-based companies.
Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids, Mich., now has a new 14,700-sq-ft, climate-controlled corporate jet hangar, as well as two beefed-up ramps. The announcement marks the culmination of two key expansion projects investing more than $7.5 million in Michigan’s second-busiest commercial airport. The new jet hangar, constructed by Northern Jet Management, will house up to nine aircraft.
