Belgium business aviation services group FlyingGroup (Stand 282) plans to open a new $3.5 million hangar at its Antwerp airport headquarters. The 56,000-sq-ft, frost-free facility will be able to accommodate almost every type of business jet. It will feature an automatic “carousel,” enabling parked business aircraft to be quickly moved indoors. The hangar is to be ready this summer.
As part of its $4.5 million development project at Fort Worth Meacham International Airport (FTW), Texas Jet is nearing completion of a 30,000-sq-ft hangar it has leased to Trimec Aviation. “With our growing Astra/G100 customer base, we have outgrown the facility we’ve been in for 25 years,” said Trimec president John Dunn. “The new hangar will also provide us with the option to move into Galaxy/G200 maintenance.
Maintenance provider Swift Aviation Services, located at Norwood Memorial Airport (Mass.), suffered a roof cave-in of one of its hangars on February 2, evidently the result of the weight of accumulated snow exacerbated by freezing rain. The hangar appeared to be totaled and some of the six light airplanes and a helicopter that were inside when the roof collapsed were destroyed, according to observers on the scene.
Oxford, UK-based charter and aircraft management company Hangar 8 announced this week at MEBA that it will begin operations in India with the basing of a Citation XLS in Mumbai. This move is in line with the company's aim of being able to provide an aircraft to a charter customer in any EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) location within three hours of order confirmation.
Comlux USA, a maintenance, overhaul, completion and refurbishment center in Indianapolis, was back at work on Monday following a fire a day earlier that damaged the roof and one corner of its maintenance hangar at Indianapolis International Airport. The extent of fire damage to the facility and to four business jets in Hangar 5 is still being assessed, Comlux Aviation Services division CEO David Edinger told AIN.
Hangar Ten held a grand opening for the second phase of its Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport FBO in Kansas City, Mo., on October 6. “With this new facility, we are bringing great hometown service that far exceeds anything currently available,” said owner James Stowers, who shared the ribbon-cutting duties with Missouri governor Jay Nixon.
Million Air Dallas held a groundbreaking ceremony on October 25 for an expansion of its Addison Airport FBO complex. Plans call for a new hangar, FBO terminal and ramp to open in next year’s second quarter. The new 40,000-sq-ft hangar will accommodate Gulfstream’s new G650. The $4 million addition was necessary because Million Air Dallas’s charter fleet, which now numbers 20 aircraft, is growing.
Atlantic Aviation plans to add a 12,000-sq-ft hangar to its facility at DeKalb Peachtree Airport in Atlanta. In addition to the hangar–which will be designed for Gulfstream G550s and completed by fall 2011–Atlantic is adding 3,200 sq ft of office space at its Atlanta location. Atlantic Aviation, which claims to have the largest network of fixed-base operations in the U.S., is exhibiting here at Booth No. 6436.
Exclusive Aviation has purchased a 17,000-sq-ft hangar at St. Paul Downtown Airport. The facility includes 1,700 sq ft of office space. Besides reporting acquisition of the St. Paul hangar, Exclusive has announced the addition of Dave Monacell to its dedicated sales staff. Monacell will “expand and lead” the company’s turbine and jet aircraft sales, acquisitions and brokerage.
