FlightSafety International (FSI) plans to build a Hawker 750 simulator for installation at its UK training center at Farnborough Airport an hour southwest of London. In addition, FSI (Booth No. 220) will offer Gulfstream G450 and G550 training programs there using an interchangeable level-D simulator planned for operation starting in late 2009.

A software error in Honeywell flight management systems with NZ-2000 nav computers could cause sudden, un-annunciated shifts in computed position, according to an FAA airworthiness directive. Honeywell has identified 234 business jets (Challenger 601/604, Falcon 900, GIII/IV/V and Hawker 800/800XP/1000) that are affected by the AD (effective April 18), which requires adding corrective procedures to the aircraft flight manual.
The deal to sell Raytheon Aircraft to the investment duo GS Capital Partners and Onex Partners for $3.3 billion in cash was finalized March 26 after slightly more than three months of negotiations and legal hurdles. It marked the end of the OEM’s more than 25 years as a relatively small part of a $20 billion public corporation and the beginning of Hawker Beechcraft, a name strong on the company’s history and brands.
Raytheon Aircraft delivered 35 business jets and 27 King Airs in the second quarter of this year compared with the delivery of 28 jets and 22 King Airs in the same period last year, according to Raytheon’s quarterly financial report released this morning. The increase in jet shipments was solely the result of more deliveries of Hawker 400XPs.
Some requirements of certification flight testing are impossible to complete from the home airfield, no matter where that may be. In late March/early April, Raytheon Aircraft sent the second flight-test Hawker Horizon (RC-2) to Iqaluit, in Canada’s Nunavut Territory, for four days of cold-weather tests.
Bookajet International, the UK executive charter operator that rose from the ashes of bankrupt Chauffair, is now hiring pilots, mechanics, sales and support staff as it seeks to expand its business from a new base at Southampton Airport. Last month the company relocated from Farnborough Airport into the former Signature Aircraft Engineering facility at the south coast of England airport.
European regulators have approved the sale of Raytheon Aircraft to a coalition of Onex and GS Capital Partners, expected to be called Hawker Beechcraft. The sale still has to be approved by U.S. regulators. Raytheon expects the sale to be complete before the middle of the year.
To inaugurate its newest aircraft type, fractional provider Flight Options is offering a reduced hourly occupied rate for customers who sign up for shares in the Embraer Legacy. For the first 24 months of the 60-month contract, the share owner will pay an hourly rate of $1,990, comparable to that of a Hawker 800XP. At the 25th month, the rate reverts to the regular $2,485 per hour.
DeerJet, one of China’s leading executive charter firms, has leased a Gulfstream IV through U.S. investment firm Bravia Capital Partners. The aircraft, which will be operated under a five-year lease, joins another GIV in the operator’s fleet, along with a Raytheon Hawker 800XP and Premier I.
