Aviation Partners (Stand 674) of Seattle, Washington, said the first certified scimitar-tip blended winglets are now flying on a Hawker 800. The patented scimitar tip is an aerodynamic change to the tip cap of the existing blended winglet, providing an additional 0.5-percent drag reduction over the existing 7.3 percent at long-range cruise.

General aviation aircraft deliveries during the first three months of this year experienced another overall drop of 4.6 percent compared to the first quarter of 2010, while billings declined by nearly 20 percent to $3.7 billion, according to statistics released last month by the General Aviation Manufacturers Association.

Hawker Beechcraft GCS also announced here at EBACE its development of an aftermarket retrofit kit for Hawker winglets on the Hawker 750. Emmanuel Muntmark with Monsson S.A. of Romania, is the launch customer for the modification. Bucharest-based Alfa Air flies Muntmark’s Hawker 750 for charter.

The EASA has given Dubai-based ExecuJet Middle East the OK to add the Hawker 400XP, 700, 800, 900 series and 4000. The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority has also granted approval for the Hawker 800, 900 series and 4000. A spokesman for the MRO told AIN the latest additions join long-standing maintenance support for the Global 5000, Legacy 600 and 650, Gulfstream G150 and G200, Pilatus PC-12 and various Challengers and Learjets.

The Qatar CAA has granted Part 145 certification to the maintenance division of Rizon Jet, a Middle East and UK-based business aviation group headquartered in Doha, Qatar. The Doha line maintenance and repair station will be focusing on its approvals for the Challenger 604/605 and Hawker 900XP. It also provides support on wheels, tires and batteries.
