Up to 9,450 new business jets worth $280 billion are forecast to be delivered over the next 10 years, according to Honeywell Aerospace’s 23rd annual Business Aviation Outlook released on Sunday evening just ahead of NBAA 2014. This reflects an 8-percent increase in projected billings over the 2013 outlook, thanks to 200 more anticipated aircraft deliveries, “modest” list price increases and the continued strong demand for larger business jets.
Jetex opened its new North American office in Miami, Fla., on October 20. The international flight-planning and trip-support group is transferring its Dubai-based Eagle Team to the new facility in order to have more direct contact with a growing body of customers from the U.S. and throughout the Americas.
“The overall goal is to offer a closer connection with [business aircraft] operators, and our support staff in Miami can deliver the same array of services as our head office,” said Jetex corporate sales manager Heather Satchwell.

AeroVue, a lower-cost derivative of parent company Honeywell’s Primus Apex system, is a complete glass-panel retrofit built around three 12-inch LCD screens. It includes a flight management system, autopilot, synthetic vision and Honeywell’s INAV functionality with electronic chart displays, as well as Internet connectivity via AeroWave 100.
Less than a week after the surprise launch of Gulfstream’s new G600 and G500 large-cabin jets, the company is showing off a full-size cabin and cockpit mockup of the G600 at the NBAA 2014 static display at Orlando (Fla.) Executive Airport.

While annual billings are expected to surpass peak 2008 levels in 2017 and beyond, unit deliveries are not projected to reach the 2008 peak any time during the 10-year forecast.
Honeywell Aerospace (Booth 2000) announced that its Ovation Select cabin management system has been selected by PATS Aircraft Systems (Booth 4285) for installation on a Boeing BBJ2. According to Honeywell, the system is the “ultimate solution” for onboard high-definition entertainment, business productivity and connectivity.
Duncan Aviation has named Andrew Arcuri assistant manager of its engine Rapid Response Team (RRT) network, concentrating on the eastern regions of the U.S.
Arcuri comes to the Duncan Aviation team with more than 20 years of experience in turbine engine maintenance. He served as an engine and propeller technician in the U.S. Navy, worked on TFE731 engines at Garrett Aviation and then moved to Dassault Falcon Jet, where he proved instrumental in developing and expanding additional lines of engine business.
Honeywell is continuing development of cockpit technology that makes pilots’ jobs easier and that will help in that most fundamental of piloting tasks, landing safely in poor weather. What is unique about Honeywell’s approach to this problem is that its researchers take advantage of existing hardware in the aircraft, using new software to make primary flight displays and multifunction displays (PFDs and MFDs) do a lot more work than they were designed for.
Honeywell Aerospace released two new mobile applications–Pilot Gateway and My-Maintainer–that it says enhance efficiency for pilots, maintainers and operators. The new Pilot Gateway website and mobile app provide access to Honeywell pilot training materials, manuals, videos and other resources. The new My-Maintainer app allows maintenance personnel to access information wirelessly at the gate and perform fault analysis from data stored on the aircraft through Honeywell’s Data LAN Management Unit Wireless (DLMU-w) system.
Jeppesen and Honeywell Aerospace introduced a new cloud-based database update delivery service today for aircraft equipped with Honeywell Primus Epic Integrated Navigation or Primus Apex avionics. The new integrated navigation data service data manager (IDM) for Windows, available at no extra costs for subscribers, eliminates physical delivery of critical flight data updates, allowing users to download the updates from anywhere. The service is designed to support future enhancements, such as a potential wireless data-loading interface.
