The development of a composite and metal bond component repair station is in progress in the Asia-Pacific region as a joint venture between Spirit AeroSystems and several major aviation companies.

Spirit will partner with Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company and its subsidiary, TAECO, along with Oklahoma-based First Wave MRO, to establish a regional service center near TAECO’s facility in Xiamen, China.

The Asian Business Aviation Conference and Exhibition (ABACE) will return to Hong Kong next year, increasing to a two-day format, February 3 and 4. This year, the U.S. National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) and the Asian Business Aviation Association (AsBAA) jointly staged a one-day forum in Hong Kong on February 14.

Hong Kong helicopter operator Heliservices is getting mixed signals from local authorities, ones it claims affect its ability to stay in business. Heliservices has been providing direct helicopter air-taxi services between Chek Lap Kok Airport and a pair of waterfront sites on Hong Kong proper for several years.

Bombardier Aerospace has added three new business aircraft service facilities to its international support network. Arkia Maintenance of Tel Aviv, Israel, and Metrojet of Hong Kong, China, have been named Bombardier line maintenance facilities, and Ruag of Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany, has been named an authorized service facility.
