A dedicated business aviation terminal will open at Tokyo’s Narita International Airport this Saturday, according to airport officials here at ABACE 2012. Called Premier Gate, the new facility is close to Narita’s Terminal 2 and features co-located customs, immigration and quarantine (CIQ) facilities and a private lounge for departing and arriving passengers.

American Eagle in November earned the ignominious distinction of becoming the first airline fined by the DOT for violating the so-called tarmac delay rule, which took effect in April. The $900,000 fine resulted from several delays resulting from fog, low visibility and thunderstorms around Chicago O’Hare International Airport on May 29. Japan’s Narita International Airport is to open its first executive aviation terminal next year. The announcement, which was made at NBAA 2011 in Las Vegas on October 10, is an endorsement of the efforts Narita and the Japan Business Aviation Association have put into developing private aviation in the country.
