The FAA issued an AD–Docket FAA-2012-0222– on September 6 for some versions of the Eurocopter AS350. The directive, which is effective from October 11 this year, was issued after an in-flight fire caused by the ignition of hydraulic fluid leaking from a damaged forward servo-control hydraulic hose. The AD is intended to prevent the forward servo-control hydraulic hoses from becoming damaged and leaking hydraulic fluid that could ignite in flight.
The FAA is adopting an Airworthiness Directive (AD 2012-08-11) for certain Bombardier Dash 8-400 turboprop aircraft, to alleviate potential landing gear issues. The problems were identified during testing, which showed that failure of a retract-port, flexible hose on the main-landing-gear actuator could result in excessive leakage of hydraulic fluid.

Thales is to provide quadruple-redundant computers for the Gulfstream G650’s fly-by-wire (FBW) flight controls. The new large-cabin, ultra-long-range business jet will be the first to feature Thales’ Quad-Dual architecture. While Thales will act as Gulfstream’s deputy, the aircraft manufacturer retains authority for FBW system integration.

Four reported incidents of in-flight loss of hydraulic fluid led to an emergency AD being issued Friday for the 139 in-service Premier Is. None of the incidents led to any mishaps, according to Raytheon Aircraft. The problem has been traced to the failure of a hydraulic tube assembly in the left engine. The directive requires a visual inspection of the affected part before further flight and thereafter at intervals of 50 hours.
Eaton (Hall 4 Stand F12) has been selected by Embraer to provide five packages for Embraer’s Phenom 100 very light jet. These include the hydraulic power generation package, design of the aircraft’s flap system and landing gear control hydraulic components. It will also supply miscellaneous cockpit controls including the throttle, landing gear and flap selectors.
