The current and projected soft economy and related depressed sales market for business jets has result-ed in a nearly one-year schedule extension of the Gulfstream 150, according to Gulfstream Aerospace.
On August 31 Gulfstream and Israel Aircraft Industries, manufacturer of the G100 and G200, celebrated the rollout of the 100th G200 at a ceremony in Tel Aviv. Since 2001, when Gulfstream purchased the G200 product line and type certificate from the now defunct Galaxy Aerospace, the company has delivered 67 outfitted aircraft.
The G150, which Gulfstream touts as the first wide-cabin, long-range, midsize business jet, rolled out January 18 in Tel Aviv in front of hundreds of Israel Aircraft Industries employees, officials from both companies, supplier representatives and certifying authorities.
Gulfstream Aerospace is claiming a record for a G150 flight from Tel Aviv, Israel, to Geneva on May 1. A company flight-test airplane completed the 1,575-nm journey in three hours and 40 minutes, flying at an average cruise speed of Mach 0.82 against an average headwind of 25 knots. The crew comprised Gulfstream midsize aircraft advanced programs chief pilot Scott Evans and Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI) senior test pilot Yoram Geva.
The new Gulfstream 150 business jet remains on schedule to be officially rolled out at Israel Aircraft Industries on January 18, make its first flight in May, receive FAA certification in the first quarter of next year and enter service in the third quarter of next year. The 2,700-nm, $13.5 million jet is an upgraded G100 (itself the former Astra SPX).
