Eclipse Aerospace has completed fatigue testing of the Eclipse 500 and is in the process of assembling the data to submit to the FAA, company executive vice president Mike Press told AIN. Once it submits this data, Albuquerque, N.M.-based Eclipse will seek to increase the Eclipse 500’s lifecycle limit from 10,000 to 20,000 cycles.

Innovative Solutions and Support (IS&S) has added electronic chart and XM satellite weather display to the avionics upgrade it provides for the Eclipse 500. The company signed a contract with Eclipse Aerospace late last month to add the upgrade following FAA STC and TSO approvals.

Eclipse Aerospace has grown to more than 60 employees since purchasing the assets of bankrupt Eclipse Aviation on September 4, and the new company is meeting its plan to supply parts and provide upgrades to Eclipse 500 VLJ owners.

Albuquerque, N.M.-based Eclipse Aviation today received European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) type certification for the Eclipse 500 very light jet. The approval is for private flights only, the EASA clarified, and Eclipse expects to receive the EU-OPS 1 certification for commercial operations next year. According to the EASA, the certificate is valid for VFR and IFR operations, including RVSM and flight into known icing.

Innovative Solutions & Support has announced upgrades to its avionics for the Pilatus PC-12, including enhanced features for current and future owners and a significant new sales channel. Key enhancements include a single-side cockpit option, wide area augmentation system (WAAS) and reduced vertical separation minimum (RVSM) certification.

With the Dec. 31, 2004, deadline fast approaching for all aircraft flying between FL 290 and FL 410 to comply with domestic reduced vertical separation minimum (DRVSM) standards, aircraft and avionics OEMs have been feverishly working toward RVSM certification of air-data units and data packages as owners begin upgrading their fleets.
