The fortunes of Bombardier Aerospace’s regional jet business received a considerable boost today as American Airlines announced the signing of a letter of intent for 22 CRJ700s.

The Quebec Superior Court in late August granted Kuwait Airways a seizure order for 10 Bombardier CRJ900s ordered by the Iraqi government for Iraqi Airways. The order comes as Kuwait continues efforts to collect reparations for damages caused by Iraq during the first Gulf War.

Bombardier Regional Aircraft’s Middle East sales force saw years of persistence bear fruit this month as the company landed a firm order for six CRJ900s from the Government of Iraq and another for eight CRJ700s from Yemen’s Felix Airways.
