To accommodate existing and future business growth, CAV Ice Protection will open a North American operations center at New Century Airport in Olathe, Kansas, near Kansas City. “CAV Ice Protection’s ongoing growth and future business plans will result in new ice-protection products and services, greater support and expanded capabilities at our facilities in the UK, Poland, Mexico and the United States,” said Ken Weaver, CAV Ice Protection vice president for sales and marketing.

The U.S. Supreme Court’s recent decision not to hear an appeal of the 1999 closing of Richards-Gebaur Memorial Airport near Kansas City, Mo., ends the legal attempts to reopen the site as an airfield. AOPA had sued the FAA, contending the agency had “abused its discretion” when it released Kansas City from its obligation to maintain the airport as a condition for accepting federal funding.
