In times of heightened security, aircraft locks can be problematic. “The standard locks on many aircraft are surprisingly easy to open with only a similarly shaped key. Most operators want something more secure,” said Jim Jetton, president of Aircraft Security & Alert Systems, manufacturer of a line of custom-designed Medeco locks for aircraft.
Gulfstream has contracted with Aircraft Security & Alert Systems, the sole provider of custom-designed Medeco locks for aircraft, to develop an advanced lock system for the Savannah OEM’s new G650.
AirLock Aviation Security Systems has developed a programmable electronic door and access-panel locking system that records all uses of the locks to gain access to an aircraft. Unlike all-aircraft security systems that include sensors and electronic boxes, AirLock’s electronic access control system requires replacing mechanical door and access-panel locks with AirLock’s locking devices.
Aircraft Security & Alert Systems of Dallas has been selected to provide an advanced locking mechanism as standard equipment for Bombardier’s new Challenger 300. The main cabin door, baggage door and hell-hole door will come with Secure II Medeco hardened locks.
