The Los Angeles board of airport commissioners awarded a $2.15 million contract to Jacobs Consultancy for a three-year study to evaluate air pollution emissions and their impact on surrounding communities. The study begins in June and includes installation of 11 air-monitoring stations in the LAX area and collection of data for 12 months.

• The Los Angeles board of airport commissioners has authorized airport staff members to begin advertising for qualified companies to perform Part 161 noise mitigation studies for Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Van Nuys Airport (VNY). The separate studies are not expected to be completed for three to five years.

The FAA has scheduled several “fact finding” informal meetings to solicit information from operators and others concerning proposed revisions to Los Angeles Class B airspace.
