London Executive Aviation (LEA) has become the latest European business aircraft operator to join a group after predictions in recent years that consolidation would be necessary for survival in an increasingly competitive marketplace. The company has signed a deal with Luxaviation, of Luxembourg, “cementing Luxaviation’s position as one of Europe’s largest business aviation groups,” according to LEA. The deal was completed on 7 May having been signed on 7 April.

London Executive Aviation, a well-known name in the European charter market, is seeking to expand its operations in the Middle East to help it fill return legs and iron out seasonal variations. To make this move the company looking for a similar local operator, with whom LEA could place one or two of their aircraft.

Louisiana-based contract pilot Doug Lea is technically on vacation, watching the Sunday afternoon airshow at the Sun ‘n Fun Fly-in in Lakeland, Fla., when his pager goes off. Seeking a location somewhat sheltered from the overhead noise, Lea whips out his cellphone and returns the call, knowing it is one of the seven clients for whom he is currently flying.
