UK-based ConnectJets has launched Jet Card Europe as an occupied-hours, all-inclusive block charter program that incorporates a loyalty plan through which members can earn free flight hours and other benefits. Clients can join by signing up for 25 hours or more per year and earn one free flight hour for every 50 hours flown.

Bombardier’s Learjet 85 is on track for first flight later this year.

Yesterday at the Farnborough International airshow, Bombardier said its three new Learjets–the Model 70, 75 and 85–are right on schedule.

The Learjet 85 continues to progress toward first flight later this year, with four test aircraft now in various stages of fabrication. The first complete pressure fuselage, including the nose and aft fuselage, is undergoing final validation before being shipped from Bombardier’s Queretaro, Mexico plant to its assembly facility in Wichita.

Today at EBACE, Bombardier announced the Learjet 70 and 75, longer-range variant successors to the Model 40XR and 45XR. Set to enter service early next year, both jets will feature a new Bombardier Vision flight deck based on the Garmin G5000 digital avionics suite, complete with synthetic vision.

Inside, the aircraft will offer a black and white interior inherited from the Learjet 85, including new seats and an advanced cabin management system with individual pop-up touchscreen monitors. The cabins will also have LED lighting, a large baggage area and a spacious galley.

Bombardier Aerospace has made “significant progress” on its Learjet 85 program, it announced just before EBACE. Work on the two first flight-test aircraft and the complete aircraft static test article is well under way, the company said, with the production of hundreds of composite components, including the 32-foot composite fuselage.

Flightstar is now a Bombardier authorized line maintenance center for the Learjet 40 and 45.

Champaign, Ill.-based Flightstar continues to expand its portfolio of services with its designation as a factory-authorized line maintenance facility for the Bombardier Learjet 40 and 45 series. Flightstar is an FAA-certified repair station and Class IV maintenance facility with full airframe, engine, avionics and AOG capability.

The aviation store at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport, which had been known as Hangar63, has been renamed Banyan Pilot Shop. Its online store, TropicAero.com, has become BanyanPilotShop.com. “This is being done to take advantage of the strength of the Banyan brand,” said Nancy Bouvier, Banyan’s director of marketing. “This change will make it easier for Banyan to market its retail store and online store to the aviation community.”

Bombardier Aerospace announced today that production of the new Learjet 85 has officially begun and reaffirmed its commitment to a 2013 certification. With the aircraft level critical design review completed, “The next natural step is fabrication, taking parts and putting them together,” said Ralph Acs, v-p and general manager, Learjet, Bombardier Business Aircraft.

Bombardier Aerospace announced today at the NBAA Convention that it completed critical design of its all-composite Learjet 85, allowing production of the light jet to begin. Development and production teams in Wichita; Montreal; Belfast, Northern Ireland; and Querétaro, Mexico, are now “actively engaged” in the manufacturing validation phase, the Canadian aircraft manufacturer said.

Bombardier Aerospace’s all-composite Learjet 85 is on track to enter service in 2013, the Canadian aircraft manufacturer announced at Ebace. Development and production teams in Wichita; Montreal; Belfast, Northern Ireland; and Querétaro, Mexico, are actively engaged as work has transitioned from the detail design phase to the build, test and validate phase.
