Liebherr Aerospace of Germany and Avic of China are to form a joint venture company for the manufacture of landing gear for the Comac C919 aircraft.

The joint venture is between Avic’s subsidiary Landing-gear Advanced Manufacturing Co. and Liebherr Aerospace Lindenberg became a reality when the contract was signed here at the Paris Air Show.

Embraer Defense and Security has selected Liebherr-Aerospace to provide the environmental and cabin pressure control system for the KC-390 military airlifter. The systems will be developed and manufactured in Toulouse, France, and will feature integrated control architecture combined with high-reliability lightweight pneumatic and mechanical components.

Here at NBAA as a first-time exhibitor, Liebherr-Aerospace (Booth No. 4073) is rapidly gaining ground in the Americas and other parts of the world and developing new products for aircraft interiors. Its parent company, Liebherr-International in Bulle, Switzerland, opened its first U.S. operation in Saline, Mich., and recently has moved more aggressively to gain market share in the Western Hemisphere.

Air systems specialist Liebherr Aerospace Toulouse (Hall 2B Stand I6) is betting on regional jet production growth. The company counts both established and emerging regional jet players among its customers for products ranging from engine bleed air to integrated air management systems. Nevertheless, Airbus remains one of Liebherr’s major customers and the company has taken part in a recent joint equipment support initiative.

Liebherr-Aerospace Saline is set to increase its support in the rotary-wing market. The North American branch of the 57-year-old German company is based in Saline, Mich., and provides technical support, inventory and service that caters particularly to the growing fleet of European-designed aircraft.
