LoPresti Aviation received FAA STC approval for BoomBeam high-intensity discharge (HID) lights on the Cessna Citation Excel/XLS. The company’s metal halide-xenon bulbs contain no filament and, as such, come with a 5,000-hour/five-year warranty, LoPresti said. Further, the HID light system draws less power than conventional incandescent bulbs, while at the same time offering five times the brightness of a 100-Watt sealed beam light.

Duncan Aviation (Booth No. 5100) has developed a new addition to its Duncan Design Collection–a shell kit for the Falcon 50EX, the first of which is currently being installed. The shell kit provides for 1.25-inch seated headroom increase, new LED (light-emitting diode) lighting, an oxygen delivery system upgrade and improved signage. The 50EX shell follows the successful Falcon 50 kit, of which 17 have been installed to date.

OLED technology has been offered for the last couple of years in the small displays used in some business jet cabin management systems, but now Icom America has added them to its panel-mount VHF radios. The IC-A210 VHF Air Band transceiver includes an OLED display that Icom said is brighter and sharper than comparable LCD screens and which also boasts a much wider viewing angle than conventional displays.

REB Technologies (Rebtech), Booth No. 4035, is modifying eight Bell helicopters with night-vision-goggle- compatible lighting systems for Med Trans of Lewisville, Texas. The Bedford, Texas-based specialist in night-vision lighting for civil and military aircraft is upgrading the interior lighting of a Bell 206-L1 and seven 407s in a program scheduled for completion next month.

B/E Aerospace received a PMA for its LED wash lighting for the Gulfstream IV. Approval for the new system follows previously approved B/E passenger-adjustable LED reading lights for the GIV. The company is working on certification for wash lighting on other jets, including the Citation 550. B/E has also begun marketing two other new LED products.

Sandel Avionics (Booth No. 953) has announced that the patented light-emitting diode (LED) backlighting electronic flight instrument technology it unveiled last year at NBAA’06 will be applied across its entire current product line.
