Harrods Aviation has unveiled a comprehensive redesign and refurbishment of its FBO at London Stansted Airport. In work spanning six months, the company has spent more than $1.5 million to give the place a fresh look.

BAE Systems announced last month that it has contracted to deliver a 46-passenger Avro business jet corporate shuttle version of the BAe 146-200 regional jet to UK-based motorway infrastructure construction firm Gill Group. The interior work will be done by Inflite Engineering Services at London Stansted Airport, with oversight from Bristol-based Waypoint Aviation.

Swift lobbying work by the British Business and General Aviation Association (BBGA) and its members appears to have averted the threat of a new limit on the number of non-airline movements at London Stansted Airport. Following discussions with the UK’s Department for Transport (DfT), it has been confirmed that the 10,000-movement limit will apply only once a new overall threshold of 264,000 annual movements has been reached.

London-area FBO chain Harrods Aviation has opened its new 8,000-sq-ft facility at London’s Luton Airport. The expanded premises, which immediately adjoin the company’s existing 2,000-sq-ft building, include a larger lounge, private VIP lounge, conference suite, flight-planning room and handling office. Crews now have their own lounge with Internet access. An enlarged 90,000-sq-ft ramp is immediately accessible from the building.

Jeffersons Private Jet Holidays launched a luxury vacation service using chartered business aircraft. The London-based company is offering short-break packages, including flights, top-class hotels and limousines, at prices starting at around $3,800 for a three-night stay in Paris. The jets chartered by Jeffersons include UK-based Citation CJ1s, IIs and Excels, as well as Learjet 45s.

Eos, the all-business-class airline launched in 2005, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy Saturday and flew its last flight yesterday. The Purchase, N.Y.-based airline operated an upscale, twice-daily service between New York JFK and London Stansted Airport, charging round-trip prices ranging from $3,500 to $9,000.

Water that pooled under the floor panels of a Falcon 20, froze and restricted the movement of the aileron trim actuator as the airplane was landing at London Stansted Airport is to blame for the airplane’s “frozen” controls, according to the UK Air Accidents Investigation Branch.
