Lufthansa Technik Switzerland (Booth No. 343) has opened its new executive/VIP cabin interior facility directly adjoining the company’s aircraft maintenance hangar in Basel. Formal opening ceremonies were held yesterday. The addition represents an investment of just over $3.6 million in the facility, which will be used for interior refurbishment of narrowbody aircraft such as the Airbus A319 family and the Boeing Business Jet.

Lufthansa Technik has invested nearly $67 million in its new 161,500-sq-ft overhaul center for engines in Hamburg. The new facility will be staffed by about 700 employees, and capacity for overhauls rises from the present 320 to more than 400 engines per year. By commissioning the new facility, the company is making a significant contribution to securing the more than 2,000 engine maintenance jobs at the Hamburg site over the long term.

National Air Services (NAS) of Saudi Arabia has signed a five-year contract with Lufthansa Technik for total component support (TCS) for up to 40 aircraft. The agreement includes services for several executive jets based on single-aisle airliners. Moreover, both Lufthansa Technik and NAS Group are evaluating opportunities to cooperate in aircraft maintenance.

Maintenance customers of Lufthansa Bombardier Aviation Services (LBAS) at Berlin-Schönefeld in Germany can earn loyalty points in the company’s new Maintenance Plus program. Three loyalty levels are offered–platinum, gold or silver–each with different incentives that might include special AOG support and customized maintenance contracts, according to LBAS.

Lufthansa Bombardier Aviation Services (Stand No. 410) launched its new Maintenance Plus customer loyalty program here at the MEBA show yesterday. The new offering is similar to an airline frequent-flyer program. It allows customers to earn loyalty points based on how much they spend, how much of their bill has been paid and their contractual relationship with the company.

A two-year, worldwide logistic services agreement has been signed by Ameco Beijing and Lufthansa Technik Logistik (LTL). Under the terms of the agreement, LTL will commence comprehensive logistic support for Ameco Beijing to enhance the MRO’s capabilities for tracking and tracing, consolidation and 24-hour AOG service.
