Soloy is back.
The Bell 429, a new light twin helicopter derived from the Bell 427i, will be dramatically unveiled at an 11:30 a.m. press event today at Bell Helicopter’s booth, No. 1087 in Hall D. Bell announced the 427i, an IFR-capable version of the 427, less than one year ago at Heli-Expo 2004.
The new HTS900 turboshaft developed for the Bell 407X has not only thrust Honeywell into the spotlight here at Heli-Expo, it also has given the Phoenix-based company a platform on which to reclaim a place among the major players in the civil helicopter business.
Keystone Helicopter of West Chester, Pa., has expanded its accessories capabilities on both the Rolls-Royce 250 and Honeywell LTS101 turboshaft engines. According to Ralph Kunz, vice president of the MRO, the company has invested more than $500,000 in tooling and test equipment to become a Honeywell-authorized repair and overhaul facility.

Penetration of the Honeywell LTS101 turboshaft into the civil market continued yesterday at Heli-Expo’06 as Heli-Lynx Helicopter Services conveyed two AS 350BA AStar conversions to purchasers.
Honeywell (Booth No. 1907) and Soloy (Booth No. 2207) have obtained an STC to install Honeywell’s latest version of the LTS101 turboshaft engine on the Eurocopter AS 350B2 AStar, and have delivered the first two converted helicopters.
