L-3 Aviation Products is extending its expertise in ADS-B avionics to the general aviation industry with a panel-mounted single-box solution called the Lynx MultiLink Surveillance System (MSS). “Our goal is to eliminate the guesswork and complexity inherent in ADS-B systems and introduce a one-box solution that meets the FAA ADS-B mandate, while going beyond what any other company is currently doing for NextGen flight,” said Larry Riddle, L-3 Aviation Products vice president of marketing and sales. The FAA ADS-B OUT mandate takes effect on Jan. 1, 2020.

Thales UK announced that its lightweight multirole missile (LMM) has been confirmed for maritime strikes by the UK Lynx Wildcat helicopter. The launch order is for 1,000 missiles with guidance by laser-beam rider to meet the UK’s future anti-surface guided weapon (Light) requirement.

A Heli-Lynx-modified Eurocopter AS 355FX2R recently passed 5,000 hours time in service with the Special Anti-Crime Unit of Trinidad and Tobago.  The Heli-Lynx STC conversion replaces the standard helicopter’s engines, electrical system, instrument panel and trim cables. It also increases horsepower, fuel capacity, endurance and useful load.

Frontier Airlines’ new regional subsidiary, Lynx Aviation, will not start service as scheduled on October 1 due to its failure to meet minimum FAA airworthiness standards.

Frontier Airlines expects to take delivery of its first Bombardier Q400 this month and launch service aboard the 74-seat turboprop with its new Lynx Aviation subsidiary on September 5. Early last month the company waited for a waiver approval from the DOT to begin “advertising, accepting payments and selling” tickets on June 14 for its first four markets, all of which it plans to serve from Denver.

The recent announcement that the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has signed a strategic partnering agreement (SPA) with AgustaWestland marks a new chapter in the development of the widely used Lynx helicopter. For, at the same time of the agreement, AgustaWestland was awarded a contract, which launches the Future Lynx program.
