Naples Jet Center, based at Naples Municipal Airport, Fla., has been approved as a Venezuelan repair station by the Instituto Nacional de Aeronautica Civil Venezuela (INAC). The MRO provides maintenance and repair work on Citations, Learjets, Hawkers, Embraers and Twin Commanders. Services include avionics installation and repair, structural repair and upgrades, interior refurbishment and maintenance and inspections.

The governor of Missouri has signed a bill eliminating sales tax on aircraft repair parts, aligning the state with neighboring states having similar laws. Before passing the law, Missouri exempted aircraft used to carry people and property, but now the tax exemption applies to all materials, replacement parts and equipment used for modification, repair, replacement and maintenance of aircraft, powerplants and accessories from Jan.
Increased use of the Internet and software improvements have made Jet-Care International’s engine condition health online (Echo) program more user-friendly, according to technical director Peter Smith. Previously, the monthly reports sent to customers were mailed or faxed, but Echo can now e-mail the reports as PDF files.
Failure of the FAA to publish an advisory circular may prompt the National Air Transportation Association to request an extension of the October 6 implementation date for new repair station rules. The AC is intended to provide guidance for complying with the revised rules, particularly how contract maintenance is to be handled. “Our members need time to digest this,” the association claimed.

The NTSB has issued a Safety Recommendation calling for the development of nondestructive testing techniques for Robinson main rotor blades after approximately 596 hours time-in-service to check for bond defects in areas between the skin and spar at the tip of the blade and between the skin and tip cap on all R22s and R44s.
