On Monday, the Aeronautical Repair Station Association (Arsa) filed a friend of the court (amicus curiae) brief with the U.S. Supreme Court, asking the court to intervene in the issue of manufacturers refusing to provide technical data to maintenance providers.
Snecma America Engine Services (Sames) has moved into a new 162,000-sq-ft facility in Querétaro, Mexico, to provide services for the CFM56-5A and -5B engines that power the Airbus A320 series. The MRO plans to add the CFM56-7B used on the Boeing 737 NG in the near future.
Component Control, an MRO and logistics software developer, announced at EBACE that Corporate Flight Management (CFM) of Smyrna, Tennessee, has selected its Quantum Control software solution for its maintenance and repair operations. CFM operates 35 aircraft and offers aircraft charter, management and MRO services for both the private and commercial aviation markets.
Embraer signed a five-year agreement with Poland’s Lotams that makes the Warsaw-based MRO services provider an authorized aircraft service center. Lotams will provide routine checks, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, as well as component repairs for both the Embraer ERJ-145 and E-Jet series. Under the terms of the agreement Lotams will have access to Embraer’s structure-specific repair solutions and extended databases, and will be approved to handle airframe and warranty issues on behalf of Embraer customers.
Gama Group has acquired Oxford, England-based Ronaldson Airmotive. The engine and components overhaul facility strengthens the range of aerospace engineering capabilities available through the Gama engineering group of businesses. Ronaldson joins both Gama Engineering and Gama Support Services in offering a range of engineering products and services for fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft operators. The company offers comprehensive design, certification, maintenance, repair, overhaul and modification services at its Fairoaks and Farnborough facilities.
Just northwest of Tucson, Ariz., sits a 1,200-acre plot of ground with a 460-acre facility dedicated to aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul. It has been in operation for more than 30 years and is generally considered to be the world’s largest MRO dedicated to maintenance, repair, painting, storage and end-of-life services for passenger and cargo aircraft.
Bell Helicopter and Cessna announced that their joint service facility, operated by Aviation Service in Prague, Czech Republic, has received EASA Part 145 MRO certification. The certification allows for maintenance, inspection, repair and component overhaul of the Bell 206, 407, 412, 427 and 429. It also gives Cessna the capability to perform base and line maintenance–including systems, avionics and powerplant support–for all Citations except the CJ3, CJ4 and X. Training is planned to incorporate those three models this year.
ExecuJet Haite Aviation Services China, based at Binhai International Airport in Tianjin, claims to be making rapid progress toward becoming a fully functioning business jet aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) center.
Aeria Luxury Interiors (Booth H212) is the new name for VIP completions design specialist DRB Aviation, which last month was acquired by Singapore’s ST Aerospace group.
Cleveland-based MRO Constant Aviation is offering a complete Beechjet thrust-reverser maintenance program that includes repair and overhaul, free loaners and an exchange program with no over-and-above charges.
“We’ve found that the thrust reversers are one of the most common issues Beechjet operators are dealing with, so we’ve invested in several units to be exchanges and loaners. We can repair the full assembly or just the thrust-reverser doors [for 20 percent less cost than competitors] and with a faster turnaround time,” said Stephen Maiden, president of Constant Aviation.
