Malta-based Aircraft Corporate Services (Booth 6240) is making its debut appearance at EBACE, promoting its administrative support services for aircraft operators that wish to base aircraft in the island nation. Aircraft Corporate Services was launched following the 2010 introduction of Malta’s Aircraft Registration Act, which established favorable requirements for aircraft importation, registration, issuance of a Malta air operator certificate and associated regulations.

Business aviation services group Comlux will complete the relocation of its main holding company from Switzerland to Malta with the formal opening on Thursday of its new headquarters on the Mediterranean island.

VistaJet, a global aircraft charter operator that flies only Bombardier business jets, opened its new Malta operations center late last week. Maltese Prime Minister Joseph Muscat and other top-ranking Maltese officials joined VistaJet founder and chairman Thomas Flohr to mark the occasion.

Aeronautical Professionals Malta (AP Malta), an EASA-approved Part 147 training provider located in the Mediterranean island of Malta, is offering two aircraft type training courses (valued at more than €15,000, or approximately $23,000) as raffle prizes during EBACE 2013. The two-year-old company offers aircraft type training to engineers, airworthiness review staff and aircraft mechanics.

Unlike offshore registers like the Isle of Man, Malta’s aircraft register has the advantage of being within the European Union, giving operators full flexibility commercially within the 27 member states. This, in part, is what motivated Swiss-based Comlux to register some of its fleet in Malta.

The Mediterranean island of Malta, which was awarded Britain’s George Cross gallantry medal for its resistance against Axis air raids and a naval blockade during World War II, is now engaged in a campaign to become as involved in the aviation services industry as it previously has been in maritime affairs.

The European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) has been preparing its members for the new requirement for operators to have a safety management system (SMS). The Brussels-based group has staged a series of workshops on how to develop, implement and maintain an SMS toolkit according to the guidelines of the International Business Aviation Council (IBAC).

The European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) has formally recognized the affiliation of five new national groups to its organization. The Brussels-based industry group now encompasses the newly formed Russian United Business Aviation Association (RUBAA), the Spanish Executive Aviation Association, EBAA Belgium, the Malta Business Aviation Association and the Austrian Business Aviation Association.
