The venue for the G8 Summit scheduled for mid-May has been moved from Chicago to Camp David near Frederick, Md. It will now be held at Camp David on May 18 and 19, which will affect aircraft flying into Hagerstown and Frederick Airports in Maryland, as well as Franklin County Airport in Chambersburg, Pa. The Martinsburg (W.Va.) Airport, which is the closest airport outside the restricted area, has an 8,800-foot ILS-equipped runway and a control tower.

Arcadia Aviation’s new 23,000-sq-ft hangar facility at Eastern West Virginia Regional Airport in Martinsburg, W.Va., was finished in the middle of last month, just in time for the reopening of the airport’s 8,800-foot ILS runway. Arcadia’s new hangars have doors that are 28 feet high (to accommodate the Global Express and G550), offices and maintenance shop facilities in each hangar and enhanced privacy and security.

In a guest column in the Martinsburg Journal, Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.) expressed optimism about the Sino Swearingen SJ30 jet program. Sino Swearingen’s Martinsburg factory builds the wings and fuselage for the SJ30 and ships them to the company’s headquarters in San Antonio for final assembly.

New York City-based Arcadia Aviation announced plans yesterday to create a $20 million 200,000-sq-ft corporate hangar and office complex at Eastern West Virginia Regional Airport (MRB) in Martinsburg, W.Va. Groundbreaking for the first phase–a 20,000-sq-ft hangar with 3,600-sq-ft of attached offices–is anticipated to be early next year.
