Hong Kong-based aircraft management company Metrojet (Booth H418) provided an update here at ABACE 2014 on three joint ventures it announced at last year’s expo that launched its current growth initiatives. “We built a very strong presence in Hong Kong, and now we’re ready to go from local to regional,” said Metrojet CEO Björn Näf.

China Eastern Airlines Executive Air (CEAEA) signed an agreement with Metrojet of Hong Kong under which the latter will provide exclusive maintenance and service support for the operation. The agreement covers training, inspection and heavy maintenance service support to CEAEA’s 13-aircraft fleet, which includes types made by Gulfstream, Embraer, Cessna, Hawker and Bombardier.

The agreement with CEAEA “is a testament to our growing stature in the Asian business aviation industry and highlights our strength in aircraft maintenance services,” said Metrojet CEO Björn Näf.

This week China’s Metrojet , a leading operator and maintenance provider in Asia, has announcedhas signed a partnership agreement with The Leather Institute of Red Bank, New Jersey. Under the agreement The Leather Institute will provide its aircraft interior care and leather component refinishing services at Metrojet’s facilities.

Hong Kong-based Metrojet (Booth H100) has partnered with Zhuhai Hanxing General Aviation Co. to expand its business jet maintenance business into Mainland China, the companies announced here at ABACE 2013 yesterday. Located in a 15,000-sq-ft hangar at Zhuhai Airport, Metrojet Hanxing now offers the same full range of maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services–in addition to authorizations for the same list of OEMs–as that at Metrojet’s facility at Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok International Airport.

Hong Kong-based Metrojet has teamed with Zhuhai Hanxing General Aviation Co. to expand its business jet maintenance business into mainland China, the companies announced today at ABACE 2013. Hong Kong-based Metrojet has named Steve Hughes as director of maintenance and engineering. He will oversee all aspects of Metrojet’s maintenance, including CAMO DME and Part 145 repair station accountable manager responsibilities. Hughes began his 29-year aviation maintenance career in the UK Royal Air Force Tornado squadrons, followed by experience in a variety of fields within business aviation including maintenance manager with Jet Aviation Saudi Arabia. He joins Metrojet from NetJets Europe, where he has been director of maintenance and engineering since 2002.

Hong Kong-based Metrojet was presented with the Flight Safety Foundation Business Aviation Meritorious Service Award yesterday at the 57th Corporate Aviation Safety Seminar in San Antonio. According to Metrojet, it is the first business aviation company in Asia to earn recogntion for its commitment to safety and service excellence. Roger Lee, Metrojet’s director of corporate safety and quality, accepted the award for the aircraft charter and management firm.

Based on a memorandum of understanding with Metrojet of Hong Kong, Flying Colours of Peterborough, Ontario, will open a base of operation in the region that will focus on interior refurbishment for a range midsize to large-cabin business jets, including models from Bombardier, Dassault and Gulfstream.
