The Embraer Legacy 500 development program has recently achieved “several significant milestones” as the fly-by-wire midsize business jet gears up for its first flight in the third quarter, the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer said today. Milestones include taxi runs and the beginning of ground vibration tests on the first Legacy prototype, as well as developments in the second and third prototypes. Concurrently, the joint definition phase has started for its smaller sibling, the Legacy 450.
Helicopter engine manufacturer Turbomeca and aircraft leasing firm Milestone Aviation Group yesterday at Heli-Expo 2012 inked a partnership on a fixed-hourly-cost maintenance program for Milestone customers flying Turbomeca-powered helicopters. “Through the Global Support Partnership, Turbomeca and Milestone are jointly developing new engine support solutions and services for Milestone’s lease customers around the world,” the companies said.
Israel Aircraft Industries has contracted Forecast International of Newtown, Conn., to help define the future market for its proposed six- to eight-place, twin-turbine Avocet/IAI ProJet. The 20-question survey asked NBAA members to comment on the viability of the very light jet market and to rate the performance and price goals of the ProJet.
