South Dakota corporate aviation continues growing, and to meet the needs of the flying community, Business Aviation Services is building a new FBO terminal facility, scheduled to open next month at Joe Foss Field in Sioux Falls. Gracing the new facility is a specially commissioned sign by artist Harry Klessen, a half-ton, 36-foot-long, 18-foot-high representation of Business Aviation’s logo.
Raytheon Beech King Air 200, Sioux Falls, S.D., May 23, 2006–The pilot of the Sioux Valley Hospital EMS King Air, N32SV, became incapacitated for a brief time when the airplane was descending through 13,000 feet. The second pilot took the controls and landed without incident at Joe Foss Field Airport (FSD). A flight nurse and paramedic were also on board for the positioning flight from Minneapolis to FSD.
The new terminal at FBO Business Aviation Services, Joe Foss Field, Sioux Falls, S.D., opened July 11. Built at a cost of $4 million, the 42,000-sq-ft building offers a welcome visual break from the high-plains topography found in South Dakota. The exterior’s titanium panels blend seamlessly with spacious sections of sky-reflecting blue-green glass that let natural light enter the building.
