Since April 1 a new service managed by QinetiQ has met the UK’s aerial target requirements. Known as the combined aerial target service, or CATS, the new arrangement streamlines the provision of target facilities to UK forces, providing cost savings and greater flexibility.

The Empire Test Pilots’ School (ETPS) has announced the launch of a new 13-week rotary-wing flight test course set to begin next August. The program will be held at the home of the UK’s joint Ministry of Defence (MOD)/QinetiQ aircraft test and evaluation center at Boscombe Down.
Responding to the rapid growth in demand for training in the area of unmanned aerial systems, Qinetiq’s Empire Test Pilots’ School, located at the UK Ministry of Defence MOD Boscombe Down site, late last month completed its first “Introduction to Unmanned Aerial Systems Trials and Evaluation” short course. Fourteen delegates from the UK armed forces and civilian personnel from Qinetiq attended.
