Reno-based FBO and charter operator Jet West took over the former Air Trails FBO at Salinas Municipal Airport in central California last year and remodeled the entire facility. Jet West Salinas held a grand opening on March 1. Salinas is a convenient alternate airport when the Monterey peninsula is fogged in, said Jet West general manager Ryan Gauger.

Salinas Municipal Airport in central California has finished upgrades that include new offices, a conference room and modernized common areas. Other airport projects still under way include reconfiguration of the transient parking ramp, installation of a new beacon and a new taxiway to the upcoming Salinas Jet Center, which is being developed by FBO Central Coast Aviation.
A major expansion of business aircraft facilities at the Monterey (Calif.) Peninsula Airport (MRY) is under way, thanks to growing airport congestion in the San Francisco Bay Area and MRY’s reputation for world-class golf courses.
Central Coast Aviation announced plans to build an FBO facility, to be called Salinas Jet Center, at Salinas Municipal Airport near California’s Monterey Peninsula. Groundbreaking is scheduled to take place next year, and the Jet Center will include more than 100,000 sq ft of hangar space, 40,000 sq ft of office space, a hotel, restaurant and conference center.
