Bell Helicopter has delivered the first of its new Bell 407GX aircraft in Russia. St Petersburg-based Helidrive, which is the U.S. manufacturer’s independent representative in northwest Russia, will be using the new single for private and charter use. Bell is displaying an example of the 407GX at this week’s JetExpo show in Moscow.
Cutter Aviation received FAA STC approval for installation of Garmin G950 retrofit avionics in Piper Meridians with either the original Meggitt or Avidyne EFIS systems. The retrofit includes a new, custom-engineered panel and glareshield, providing a cleaner and more modern panel design. The package features two or three 12-inch Garmin displays (single primary flight display and single multifunction display or dual PFD/single MFD). Additionally, the G950 system incorporates the S-Tec IntelliFlight/Magic 1500 autopilot.
Honeywell’s latest version of its Primus Apex integrated flight deck–Build 7–offers new functions and options for operators, which the company demonstrated at EBACE in a flight on a Pilatus PC-12NG, one of the aircraft models featuring the avionics suite. The Primus Apex is a derivative of the Primus Epic fight deck that Morristown, New Jersey-based Honeywell developed for large cabin business jets, optimized for single-pilot operations.
The European Aviation Safety Agency has approved Avidyne’s EX600 multi-function display (MFD) under a technical standard order issued in April. The displays incorporate the company’s latest map panning, CMax approach charts and worldwide airport diagrams, as well as European datalink graphical weather.

Aspen Avionics has moved aggressively into the helicopter marketplace and is displaying its Evolution flight display glass cockpit systems in three helicopters at the Heli-Expo static display, a Schweizer 300C, Robinson R44 and Enstrom 480B.
Vista Aviation of Pacoima, Calif., has completed the first helicopter installation of the Avidyne EX600 multifunction display (MFD). The installation was completed in a Eurocopter AStar AS350B and approved under an FAA Form 337. “We have installed quite a few Avidyne MFDs and we were excited about being the first dealer to install an EX600 into a helicopter,” said Bill DeBarmore, Vista Aviation’s avionics manager.
The First Avidyne EX600 multifunction display (MFD) has been mounted in a helicopter. Vista Aviation in Pacoima, Calif., installed the unit in a Eurocopter AS350B under FAA Form 337. The installation included a traffic advisory system, color tactical lightning and a two-way datalink transceiver. Prices for the system range from $9,900 to $16,990 depending on options and interfaces selected.
