It is basically a combination of the Corporate Aviation Management Committee and the Safety Committee, getting together and developing a security protocol.

Cabin entertainment provider Rosen Aviation and cabin completion and refurbishment specialist Elliott Aviation have joined forces to create a noise-canceling solution combined with an in-flight entertainment system for the King Air 200, 300 and 350. Elliott’s sound management system incorporates UltraQuiet active noise control.

Noise is everywhere–annoying, tiring and sometimes painful. Since the early days of aviation, when a roaring, clattering engine sat on a wooden frame close to the pilot, and the wind whistled through the wire bracing like a banshee chorus, engineers have sought to make the process of manned flight less noisy. And they have succeeded, to a degree.

Long Island-based jet charter and management company ExcelAire has been selected to join Executive Jet Management, Jet Aviation and Jet Direct as a partner by Bank of America’s aircraft financing division. According to the bank, customers seeking aircraft financing will be offered discounted lease terms if they select one of these management providers.

Early next year the only non-living member of the former rock group The Beatles will have the airport in Liverpool, England, named after him. Next spring, coinciding with the opening of a new airline terminal, the airport will become Liverpool John Lennon Airport. The logo for the airport will include a Lennon self-portrait and the printed line “Above us only sky” from one of his most endearing and enduring hits, Imagine.

Cessna Citation S550 Bravo, Dillon, Mont., May 3, 2007–The ATP-rated owner-pilot and a passenger were killed when the Citation Bravo crashed on a circling instrument approach at Dillon in VMC. A witness reported hearing a loud engine noise followed by a “plop.” He said the engine noise was loud, diminished, then got loud again. He spotted a large cloud of black smoke and a fire outside the airport boundary fence.

Working on reducing high-frequency cabin noise produced by air passing over the fuselage skin, UK-based Ultra Electronics and QinetiQ found what a spokesman described as “a fantastic solution to the wrong problem.” After flight tests of new-generation hybrid active/passive cabin shell mounts, researchers concluded that the system works extremely well, reducing noise transmitted through the mounts by as much as 30 dBA.
