Delta Aero-Taxi plans to start a fractional aircraft ownership operation in Europe with the new Citation Mustang. The Florence, Italy-based company, which now operates a Citation X, placed an order for seven of the very light business jets. The Mustang is “ideal for Europe because of the relatively short travel distances and the [airplane’s] low acquisition cost,” said Delta Aero-Taxi president Carlo Panerai.
Cessna yesterday delivered the first Citation Mustang to a European customer when British entrepreneur Jane Howell received her aircraft at the London-area Farnborough Airport. Howell has been a private pilot for 20 years and will fly the Mustang herself for both business and personal trips around Europe.
London Executive Aviation is pushing Cessna to get early delivery of the first of seven Citation Mustangs it has ordered. The UK operator is set to receive the first two examples of the new very light jet in December next year but is now negotiating with the OEM to advance at least one of these deliveries into this year. The six-seat Mustang is due to complete certification in the fourth quarter of this year.
