Aviation Partners (API, Booth No. 2218) has selected Lanseria, South Africa-based National Airways Corp. (NAC) as the first authorized Blended Winglet installer outside North America.

API said it expects a “significant” increase in Blended Winglet sales due to NAC’s strong relationships throughout the region. To date there are three Hawker Beechcraft Hawker 800 series aircraft with Blended Winglets flying in Africa.

Hawker Beechcraft late last week completed the sale of the majority of its wholly owned fuel and line operations to Signature Flight Support parent company BBA Aviation. The transaction included operations in Atlanta; Houston and San Antonio, Texas; Indianapolis; Tampa, Fla.; Wichita; and Van Nuys, Calif.

InterGlobe General Aviation, a subsidiary of InterGlobe Enterprises, is opening a Hawker Beechcraft authorized service center at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, India. It is the first authorized service center for Hawkers in India.

Hawker Beechcraft King Air C90B, Port Said, Egypt, Jan. 15, 2008–The pilot and a student pilot were killed when the Nuclear Center Survey King Air crashed at Port Said Airport on a training flight. The aircraft was destroyed in a post-crash fire. The pilots were doing touch-and-goes and crashed on takeoff for the seventh circuit.

Raytheon Aircraft has appointed Randy Groom president of its Beechcraft division, which consists of the Bonanza, Baron and Premier lines. The Beechcraft and Hawker brands were separated last year to focus and strengthen the level of quality and product-support efforts for the respective lines. Groom was formerly senior vice president at Piedmont Hawthorne Aviation in Winston-Salem, N.C., a Beechcraft authorized service center and dealer.

Bill Brown, Hawker Beech-craft’s new president for global customer support, has all the right credentials for his new job, which he started at the end of May. Brown took over the job from Randy Groom, who “recently made the decision to take some time with his family and explore new career opportunities for the future,” according to Hawker Beechcraft.

Hawker Beechcraft Corp. marked the 75th anniversary of its Beechcraft roots on April 19, less than a month after the new company was created after parent Raytheon Aircraft was acquired by equity groups Onex Partners and GS Capital Partners for $3.3 billion.
