Pinnacle Airlines CEO Phil Trenary last month reported “very good progress” in management’s negotiations with the airline’s ALPA-represented pilots for a new contract, several sections of which he said the company managed to close recently during four days of meetings. “We’re actually down to single digits as far as what’s left,” said Trenary.
Boeing engineers and technical workers represented by the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA) yesterday voted to approve a pair of new four-year contracts.
Since suspending the development of the Javelin very light jet program in late December, the board of directors at Aviation Technology Group has continued “to engage in negotiations with its strategic partner and various financial institutions,” the company said in a statement released late this afternoon.
The Federal Labor Relations Authority (FLRA) has dismissed all of natca’s charges of unfair labor practices related to the negotiation and implementation of the 2006 air traffic controllers contract. The authority also dismissed unfair labor practice charges that the FAA filed against the Professional Airways Systems Specialists (pass).
It appears that the informational picketing by NetJets pilots, who are represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 1108, is having the desired effect of putting pressure on company management to finally hammer out a new contract with the pilot workforce.
After more than two-and-a-half years of negotiations for a new contract, the union representing some 1,900 NetJets pilots is closer to resolving their differences with NetJets management. According to Dave Vermeulen, chairman of the pilot’s union master executive council, the two sides recently reached agreement over benefits and an improved system for handling pilot grievances, disciplinary actions and terminations.
The National Air Traffic Controllers Association filed a lawsuit in late January asking a federal court to order the Federal Service Impasses Panel to resolve a bargaining issue between NATCA and the FAA that affects employees at 11 facilities. NATCA also named the Federal Labor Relations Authority in its suit.
